Ones To Watch: Beside The Bridge

Hey guys,

You'll probably have noticed that I've been quiet, this will be common sometimes as I'm at uni. But, I have a few posts lined up for the next few weeks so please be patient with me! This week's post is another edition of 'Ones to Watch' and this weeks artist comes from Sweden and have been a band I've followed for about 2.5 years.

Beside the Bridge (BTB) are a five piece band from Sweden consisting of best friends Joel (vocals), Niklas (bass), Charlie (guitar), Ludvig (guitar and vocals) and Rasmus (drums). The band started off with Niklas, Charlie and Charlie in 2008 as the 3 had been friends since pre-school, once Ludvig and Rasmus joined, it felt as if the band was complete.

BTB are in essence a pop rock/ pop punk band which is perfect in an age where this kind of music is definitely making a comeback. But, the big thing about this band is that they don't restrict themselves to a certain genre of music so that they can reach a bigger audience. I think a lot of artists can be quite like stubborn and big headed about only trying to get a specific fan base but BTB are very open and just want to include everyone with a love of music.

The first cover of theirs that I watched was 5SOS English Love Affair and I was pretty shocked because I hadn't seen anyone cover that song before and it was pretty amazing. I then found out that they covered the sort of stuff I loved like All Time Low and Sleeping with Sirens and I was hooked.

I then noticed that they catered to my guilty pleasure side as well by covering artists such as Elyar Fox, One Direction and the amazing Vamps (who they eventually went to support at their Sweden show).

Musically, the dynamic of the band is perfect because it has covered everything that a good band needs. It has an amazing lead singer in Joel but the sweet vocals of Ludvig that adds a much needed harmony and sings solo to add a new layer to the band. Charlie and Ludvig are amazing guitarists and carry the melody of all the songs perfectly. However, the presence of a strong drum and bass beat in this band is something rare and Niklas and Rasmus really add another dimension to the music and creates something beautiful to watch and listen.

As well as being amazing performers, all 5 members are hilarious when they're doing twitcams or periscopes and show that they're just 5 normal guys who are best friends. They are also amazing with fans and are always willing to tweet someone back or interact with their fans in so many ways. This is one of the special things about the band because I haven't seen a band so dedicated and loving towards all of their fans, no matter where they come from! Also, the fan base is so supportive and friendly which you just don't get anymore.

I have loved seeing this band grow from strengths to strength and I cannot wait to see them progress even more but hopefully stick to their roots and true connection with their fans. You can see the true friendship and passion for music in their eyes and this makes them a joy to listen to and watch.

So that's this weeks artist to watch and hopefully you love them as much as I do and hopefully this post will finally persuade them to come and visit me in England *I mean Joel even accepted my offer to pay for their tickets* I will also be following them closely on this blog as well as my Tumblr http://besidethebridgeuk.tumblr.com/ to see what they're up too!
