Ones To Watch: Into The Ark

Hi guys,

After the rush of concert reviews, I didn't want to slow down and let this blog lose momentum. So I thought we'd do another Ones To Watch and this week's act is very special and I can't wait because I've got tickets to see them live in October after my 21st Birthday. Duo Into The Ark have just finished been on the UK talent show The Voice where they finished second.

Born and bred in Blackwood, South Wales (YAS), best friends Dane Lloyd (25) and Taylor Jones (21) came together because of their shared love of music - a dream come true! They spent a number of years busking and doing small gigs across England and Wales and built up a following from fans all over the place. After doing that scene for a while, they took the plunge and auditioned for The Voice.
It's really rare to find a duo who are so in tune with each other both socially and musically and I think that's what I was drawn to as soon as they walked onto the stage for the blind auditions. It's not often that I see any type of artist and immediately feel a sort of connection to them before they even start singing. When the opening verse of Burning Love came out of Taylor's mouth and Dane joined in with his acoustic guitar, my ears pricked up. Once Dane joined Taylor in singing, the harmonies sent shivers down my spine because it was really something unexpected. The big guy had the softest tone and a wide vocal range whereas the smaller guy had a rocky grit to his voice.

I wasn't surprised when the chairs spun and they picked Tom. With the fellow Welshman's help, they went from strength to strength by covering songs like No One, Jealous and Hold On, We're Going Home. Unsurprisingly, they had my support *and votes* from the start and I was over the moon that they got all the way to the final and came second - the highest of any duo in the show's history.

Their original stuff, that you can find on YouTube and Spotify, are even more amazing and show the route they want to go down as artists. They produce really soulful stuff that have a sort jazzy tone to it, like Brightest Creatures which has a 80s vibe and My Ghost which has a subtle country feel with the guitar. They are also willing to cover songs from so many different genre's and put their own spin on it like Mr Brightside, Is This Love and A Team.

Apart from being a duo, what really makes Into The Ark unique is the ability to blend their two voice perfectly to create a seamless harmony that is so nice to listen too. They also seem like genuinely nice guys who just love being with each other and making music - a friendship formed on a mutual love of music is a bond that's very hard to break!

So, if you have a chance, go and see these guys in a city near you (their dates are near the end of the post) and have a listen to them on YouTube, Spotify etc. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these guys but I can't wait to follow them on this journey. Let me know if any of you are going to see them this year or if you've seen them before!
