All Time Low @ O2 Brixton
Hey guys,
It's been a crazy few weeks of concerts and stuff and I couldn't have found a better fitting way to finish it than on one on my all time favourite *pun* bands. Me and my friend Molly took the pleasant trip to the beautiful O2 Brixton to go and watch All Time Low. I was so excited because I hadn't seen them in over a year and she hadn't seen them in around 5 years and the setlist looked absolutely amazing.
We were a bit worried because, by the time we got there, we were pretty near the back as there wasn't O2 Priority. We didn't expect an amazing view but were just glad to hear them live. But, just like last week, we defied the odds and probably got one of the best views possible. We both made our way right to the side and got right on the barrier at the corner. This meant that we could see most of the band perfectly: I say most because Rian was like a mythical creature throughout because we only saw him at the end. I couldn't have asked for a better view and it really just became one of the best nights ever. We were also close to security guards so no one could push us and we could get easy access to water!
I can't even describe what the show was like because it was so unique and amazing that words can't put into place how amazing it was. They started the show with Kicking and Screaming which was an odd choice but it was of my favourite songs from the last album so I was happy screaming along to that, which was followed by Weightless and one of my favourites Somewhere in Neverland. All three songs were so upbeat that there wasn't a second that I wasn't screaming at the top of my lungs and dancing really badly.
We were also lucky enough to be there when they decided to sing their new song Young Renegade for the first time live. I am a massive fan of this and Dirty Laundry so the fact that they played both of them was a bonus. They then sang some more amazing upbeat songs like Kids in the Dark and Love Like War that showed how diverse all of their songs were.
However, it isn't an All Time Low song unless I start getting emotional. The boys decided it would be okay to play Therapy and Missing You one after the other. Both songs mean so much to me and have really been massive parts of my life. So, to hear them both, really remember why I loved All Time Low so much. They could produce amazing songs to dance too but they also made so many of those songs and the slower ones relatable and part of people's lives. I was a mess, my friend Molly was a mess and I think the whole venue was a mess.
It seems as if they really pulled out all the stops for the last UK tour date and they gave us some real surprises from the start to the end. From playing Young Renegade to singing a cover, they didn't disappoint me. The encore was no different because they did something I have never seen before, they did a 3 song encore. They sang the usual Lost in the Stereo and Dear Maria which are some of the best songs but they gave me the shock of my life *in an amazing way*. They only went and frickin played Jasey Rae! This song is so underplayed nowadays and I love every part of it, especially the bridge, so as soon as Alex announced that they were playing it, my night had been made complete.
So what could I even say to sum up this show, except for the fact it was a once in a lifetime show. It finished too quickly for me but as Jack made his way to the crowd, I thought I might actually get to touch him. I didn't but me and my friend said we got something better. He walked about a metre in front of us looking apologetic that he couldn't come right to us and locked eyes with us both directly (as there was no one in front of us) and clapped his hands together like he was praying and bowed to us.
That pretty much ended the night on one of the biggest highs ever and just showed how amazing this band is. They were so interactive and their energy was 110% throughout which is all I ask for in a band: that they seem to have as much fun as we do! Below is a playlist of all the songs they played last night *excluding the Lorde cover*
I can't wait for the next tour, after the new record comes out, because I am never missing an opportunity to see them again! I am also sorry about not writing about the support acts this time but the show was too amazing to not write all the small bits, which meant that there wasn't much room to write about them without it getting lost within the rest of the post.
So that's it for now, I don't have any more gigs lined up but hopefully I can get some reviews and artists to watch done!
Bye for Now
xx
