Dalton Rapattoni - Nobody's Home

Hi my lil' fairies,

This post has been a long time coming but I really wanted to invest all my time and energy into this album and I haven't really had time because of university. I don't know if any of you have read some of my other posts on other blogs about this artist but he is truly special and unique and it's about time he made his mark on this blog.

I could probably and will probably write another post about Dalton as an artist and how important he has been in my life but this post is about his debut album Nobody's Home and I don't think I've listened to an album in a long time where I have just felt a connection to it and all the songs on it. Because I'm in the UK, I haven't been able to get a physical copy (I'm broke for those international charges) but thank you Spotify because I can now write an album review fitting for this beautiful album. A summary is that it's an album that makes you feel something, it's also relatable in so many ways!

The album is a perfect blend of different kind of songs that really show off who Dalton is as an artist and his amazing musical capabilities. The album starts off with Signs which is one of my (okay one of many) favourite songs. It is a beautiful blend of soft and hard, upbeat and serene, but it has this natural passion and emotion that is so raw and pure which is so rare. Although this passion is evident throughout, Dalton's debut single Turn to Stone is really a tear-jerker and was the first evidence, for fans who didn't know him pre-American Idol, of Dalton's amazing ability to write songs that connect to the heart. I think it may have made me cry when I first heard it, especially hearing it live. Both Back from the Moon and Would you like that are also really calm songs that ooze serenity but also emotion and I think that's what makes Dalton's album so special, the ability to create such beautiful songs with amazing melodies but still capture an emotion to add extra layers.

But this doesn't mean that the album is stuck with only slow and emotional songs because there are some true belters like the new version of Trust Nobody (which I don't like as much as the old one but hey ho). Being Young and Growing Older are perfect songs to put near each other and match nostalgia with a more positive attitude and a really nice and more upbeat melody with more of an emphasis on the drum beat. It reminds me of songs that could work in films, from Peter Pan to ones about kids wanting to grow up quickly. With Stay Up With Me, it's a song that screams memories and excitement because of the beat and melody but as well as the words, not sad but not happy, just nostalgia in a more upbeat fashion. These songs show Dalton's diversity because he can do those songs to make you cry but also songs that I want to jump around too and scream at the top of my lungs!

I know I said that signs was one of my favourites but these next three songs are definitely some of the best, in my opinion, in the whole album. Heaven is another tear-jerker and really makes me feel something in my heart when I hear him sing it. It's an emotional song with a rich and quite powerful beat that gives it a sense of drama and also allows Dalton's voice to shine, especially near the end (2:56) where he rifts one of the notes and I melt. Somewhere in America is a song that I just have in my head all day. It's a song with such a beautiful melody and it's put such a cliche love story in such a unique way thats personal to him, but can't we all see ourselves in it? Haven't we all changed a part of our lives to be near someone we cre about, even if its out of our way or comfort zone? It's the same with The Way You Do, so personal but so relatable!

I think Nobody's Home is probably my favourite album released this year and maybe even one of my all time favourite albums. It's one of the best albums lyrically and all of the songs have such pure heart in it, it doesn't feel as if he chucked any old song on it just to get people to buy his album. It;'s almost as if, as I listen to the songs, I am being transported into Dalton's mind and can feel everything he did hen he wrote these songs. He stayed true to his roots and wrote an album that he and the people, who have been fans of Dalton since his boyband days, can be proud of.

As someone who has followed Dalton from before his American Idol, I have never been so proud of an artist, so I can't wait to see what's to come. He's one of my all time favourite artists and is my inspiration... but that's a story for another post!

Until next time my musical chums,

Bye for Now
xx
