Loss of Confidence...

Hi my lil fairies,

This post isn't a pun, its a statement that seems to relevant in the wake of the revelations over the weekend. It seems as if you can't wake up without another allegation of sexual harassment in the world of television and film. Maybe there was a bit of a disconnection with me in these issues which I hate to admit but it was true. Yes, I thought that the acts were atrocious and the women didn't deserve to be in that position but it was all in a world that seemed like a different dimension.

However, the recent allegations in the music industry with artists and fans suddenly seemed closer to home and made me realise the extent to which this is becoming an uncontrollable issue. Just this morning, Luke Rockets was exposed for having inappropriate contact with a minor. This was what really made me take notice because his band With Confidence has become one of my favourite bands to listen too (NB: With Confidence have since kicked Luke out of the band) and it was crazy to think that someone so important in my life could do something like this. He always seemed so jolly and just a good guy, but it shows that people aren't always what they seem. Not to say that it's only Luke, there have been many other artists from well known bands with allegations that have been proved true.

My worry is that it could've been any of us. All people who have been fans of bands have fallen head over heels in love with a member or two... I mean wouldn't it be amazing if your favourite band member started messaging you or complimenting you? But then, when does that go too far? Sometimes those compliments seem completely wrong but, to you, its just a dream come true! They're taking advantage of their fans and sometimes it doesn't go noticed for a long time because you're in denial. Why would someone, who you love and idolise so much, do this? It is massively shocking to the system and it scares me...

So, what makes them think they have the right to do this ? Well, first of all, they don't have any right - whether they are a celebrity or just someone on the streets. Even with their status in the media and in society, it shouldn't let them do something that is completely disgusting. I think that the problem is that people in a positions of power have been getting away with things like this for years so they think they're in some way exempt from regular laws and moral conduct. They aren't superior to us so they shouldn't be able to make their own rules up on what's right or wrong.

I am glad that its becoming more publicised but that won't make it any easier as you watch those you used to look up to, make shit decisions and ruin others lives. It shows that this issue needs to be sorted out and show that their are serious consequences for these acts... we need to stand together to show that its not right and we won't stand for it.

The main thing is that none of it is ever the other party's fault because the celebrity has taken advantage of someone's feelings and used it to benefit them in the sickest way possible. We shouldn't send hate or accuse them of lying because it was so brave of them to tell their story in the first place. The more we criticise, the less likely people will be to tell their story and expose these idiots for who they are. We need to stand with them and support them through this tough time!

Things need to get better!

Bye for Now
xx
