The World of Disney Music
Hello my lil fairies,
I've changed the greeting up a bit and it's all to do with the title. I took a magical holiday to Disney World Florida this Summer and it was one of the best summer's of my life. One of the many things that Disney does well is music and, as I walked around the parks, the music that followed me had a weird impact on me. The different rides in the different areas in the different parks were all unique and perfect so it's mindblowing for me to fathom how they seem to keep doing this.
Disney songs are one of the few things in this world that remain pure, no matter how many films are released. From the beauty and innocence of Someday My Prince Will Come from Snow White to the power and strength of Touch The Sky from Brave, Disney make music to inspire millions of people around the world. It's almost like there is a song for every occasion and for every emotion. I can listen to a song that's romantic and makes me want to cry diamond tears (I See the Light from Tangled) or one that makes me want to tap along and maybe, on the odd occasion, burst into a full on choreographed dance (Bare Necessities from Jungle Book).
It's weird how Disney manage to transform people's lives with these 3 minute songs as well as change the pace or emotion of a film without the characters even needing to speak. While I was at Disney Hollywood Studios, they had the Music of Disney Pixar played by a full orchestra and it was there that I was fully able to appreciate the true beauty of the music. They played the music from different films, like Toy Story and The Incredibles, with just a silent movie montage in the background. It showed the real impact that music has on films and how integral they are to entrancing an audience.
Also, the use of the Disney music in the fireworks and parades in Disney Parks literally creates a story from nothing. In the Magic Kingdom fireworks, the medley of some of the greatest songs in Disney history and the use of images created something magical. I doubt it would've been as good if it was just fireworks and illuminations. Music transforms everything!
The music has also come on leaps and bounds but still keeps the innocence I mentioned earlier in the post. Most of the old and traditional songs were very centred around the Princess finding true love and how much they wanted to find their Prince. Not that I don't love these songs, because some of them are classic songs that epitomise what love is. However, a lot more songs released recently are showing a different side to the Princesses and how they want to stand strong on their own and be happy with who they are. I guess the best example is Let It Go from Frozen but I love the idea that Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid is something different because it shows how Ariel wants to go on the land to learn and walk with other humans, not just find a man.
I've spent my whole life listening to so many different genres (I mean EVERY single genre) but never have so many songs made me feel so many different things as Disney songs have. So, whether you're a hardcore metal fan or bubbly pop person, give Disney a go and I promise you, it's worth the listen!

That's it for this week,
Bye for Now
