Ed Sheeran's back and so are the Hundreds of Covers!

Hey guys,

Well hasn't it been a busy week in the world of music - mainly Ed Sheeran coming out of hibernation last week and flinging an album announcement as well as two new songs at us. So, Ed Sheeran is the topic of pretty much every bit of music news so why wouldn't I jump on this bandwagon? I think it's also pretty important to look at the different artists who are covering these new songs because its literally how we find some of the best new artists.

Shape of You is effectively a cheeky song is easy to sing along too. I can imagine that this is going to be huge in clubs because it does have a sort of dance vibe that I would happily bop along too!

If you really listen to the lyrics, its pretty sweet in terms that I think it talks about a guy loving everything about this girl and her body, even if there might be bits she doesn't like! Although it starts very simply in terms of melody and stuff , it is so effective with the summer vibes *using a glockenspiel I think*. Also, the layers that keep getting added through the song give it so many dimensions and make it a masterpiece for your ears. I think it was one of those songs that I was initially a bit confused about in terms of whether I liked it or not.

But, after giving it a few listens, it has really grown on me and I know that it's going to be one of those songs that you can listen to at any time of the year! Here are some of my favourite covers of it, give the pictures a click to go to the cover:

Bradley Simpson From The Vamps (with Scrubs from TLC)

Will Jay and Dylan Bernard Mashup with Castle on The Hill

Castle on the Hill is like a full 180 from the last song and is probably my favourite out of the two. It is such a sweet and sentimental song with a beautiful lyric video to go with it.

It's got a really nice beat to it that is almost like Mumford and Sons in the sense that it has a sort of nice country vibe to it with the guitar and stuff. I think the stand out part of this song is some of the lyrics that literally everyone can relate to in some way. My favourite is, 'I found my heart and broke it here, Made friends and lost them through the years.' It really is a song about losing your childhood and just wanting to go back to the place where all your best memories were. I think this song is Ed Sheeran working to his advantages by giving us a song with a story and such meaning. I can imagine lying down in a field with the sun shining on my back while I listened to this song loudly through my headphones.

I can pretty much say that this is going to be one of the best songs of 2017, even though it's only January, and I will be playing this pretty much 24/7.

Here are some of my favourite covers of it, give the pictures a click to go to the cover:

James McVey from The Vamps

Beside The Bridge

Harry Seaton

So that's that! I am literally so excited to listen to the whole album when it drops in March and hopefully this signals that 2017 is going to be a whole lot better!
